Starting the scene

Give the opening a practical focus before expanding the scene. Name the person being addressed and leave room for an answer. Keep the characters and the user within clearly adult, consensual fictional boundaries.

Keep the group coherent

A shared scene needs a stable place, a clear speaker and consistent facts. Address one participant when you want a focused reply, and distinguish narration from dialogue. If the situation changes, state the change instead of expecting every character to infer it.
